Many Ways to Conserve Water

Report leaks at UT

Oftentimes leaks at UT do not get reported, so no one knows to fix them! Please help us by reporting any leaks that you see on campus. For indoor leaks, call 512-471-6188. For outdoor leaks, call 512-471-6888.

Repair leaks at home

Did you know that 14% of the average American household's water use is due to leaks? Repair those leaks you've been meaning to fix AND lower your water bill!

Conserve!

The City of Austin provides rebates for low-flow toilets, rainwater harvesting barrels, and other things you may need around your house. You can also check on watering restrictions here, and report any violations you see.

Water your lawn in the mornings or evenings

If you water during mid-day, most of the water will evaporate. This costs you money and wastes water.

Take Shorter Showers

The average shower uses between 12 and 15 liters of water per minute. If you cut your shower down to just 5 minutes, you can save about 16 gallons of water per day!
