What We Recycle

We accept aluminum and #1 and #2 plastic only. You can recycle plastic bottles, including coke bottles, milk jugs, and detergent bottles. You cannot recycle plastic cups, yogurt cups, or plastic tubs. Please do not put paper, glass, or trash in the bins. Also, please help us by emptying out your beverage before recycling it; full beverages make a mess for our volunteers. Bottle caps can't be recycled, so you can throw those away.

How the Program Works

The program is a partnership between the Campus Environmental Center, UT Facilities Services, and student and staff volunteers. We have 25 big blue barrels outside on campus and a variety of bins inside UT buildings. Volunteers empty their recycling bins twice a week and then a student worker picks up the recyclables and delivers them to a local company.
