About Us

The Campus Environmental Center is the largest organization on campus for UT students interested in the environment. We are a sponsored student organization under Campus Planning and Facilities Management, in the University Operations portfolio.

The mission of the CEC is to empower the UT community to reduce its negative environmental impact and to foster a genuine culture of sustainability on campus through collaborative and constructive means.

In pursuit of this mission CEC engages in projects, programs, campaigns, and group activities that strive to achieve the following:

  • Collaborate with UT entities and off-campus partners to foster change in policy and practice toward a more environmentally sustainable campus;
  • Educate the student body and UT community about environmental sustainability issues; and
  • Develop knowledgeable and skilled leaders through direct participation in CEC events, classes, and programs.

Our Projects

We run numerous projects that help improve the campus environment, including the Trash to Treasure move out donation drive, on-campus gardens, and many more. For a full list of our projects, visit Our Projects.

The CEC Office

The Campus Environmental Center office is now located on the first floor in the Student Services Building (SSB). We are located in SSB 1.302 which is located in the southeast corner of the building. Click here for a map. Our office hours are posted on the Our Calendar page of our website under the tab Get Involved. They are changed from time to time throughout the semester.

Join Us!

If you're new to the CEC, you'll want to join one of our committees; that's where all the exciting environmental work gets done. Visit Get Involved to join the CEC or one of our committees. By joining the CEC, you can learn about environmental issues, develop leadership skills, strengthen your resume, make friends with other environmentally-minded students, and explore career options.
