Now Accepting Applications for All Officer Positions for 2008-09

The CEC is now accepting applications for all officer positions for the 2008-09 school year.  You will get to know some of the amazing people behind the scenes of the CEC and create a great network if you plan to continue pursing a career in the environment!  Learn how to organize, make stuff happen, and have an awesome time doing it as a CEC co-chair or officer.  No experience required.  Email the directors (director[at]UTenvironment[dot]org) with any questions.

To apply for either positions or to view job descriptions, visit www.UTenvironment.org/leadership or click on "leadership opportunites" in the sidebar.

Want to get more involved with environmental issues? Join the Campus Environmental Center!

The Campus Environmental Center is UT's main student environmental group; we run many different projects, including on-campus gardens, aluminum and plastic recycling, a leadership training program, speakers and festivals, energy conservation, and the student garage sale Trash to Treasure. We successfully pushed for the new Sustainability Policy, UT's first green building and a staff position to work on campus sustainability.

Coming up in the fall: weekly general meetings and committee meetings will resume; we'll run our second annual Residence Hall Energy Competition, and celebrate America Recycles Day. *If you are in a Greek organization or live in a co-op, email advisor[at]UTenvironment[dot]org if you'd like to help organize Greek and co-op participation in the energy competition!

We have been incredibly successful, and you can be a part of it! Click here to volunteer, or check out our open leadership positions.

The best way to get involved is to join a committee (or two). Just sign up online, and we will add you to our once-a-week email list.

Go Green - Take the "Bleed Orange, Think Green" Pledge!

Your individual impact makes a big difference on our environment. Take the "Bleed Orange, Think Green" Pledge and learn easy ways to be green. The pledge is for UT students, faculty, and staff, and the website also has many resources on how to be green.

When you take the pledge, you can also sign up for a monthly e-newsletter with a new, easy way to be green every month. It's a great way to incorporate simple environmental habits into your lifestyle.

UT Sustainability Network

Each month everyone involved with sustainability on campus - staff, faculty, and students - gathers to share information and collaborate at the UT Sustainability Network meeting. Click here to find out more information on the Network, upcoming meetings, and how you can get involved.
